Kuramathi Cottage & Spa was one of the first Maldivian islands to build water bungalows which are now superb value.
Location
In the Rashdoo atoll about 1½ hours by speedboat (or 20 minutes by seaplane at a supplement of just £60 per person return) from Male' airport, the Kuramathi Cottage & Spa is one of three resorts on the island of Kuramathi, and enjoys its own private pier.
One side of the island is protected by a large shallow sandy lagoon, which is perfect for swimming and on the other side the coral reef is very close and ideal for snorkelling and diving.
Restaurants at Kuramathi Cottage
The resort enjoys a selection of excellent restaurants, including the main restaurant for guests prepurchasing optional meal plans, a choice of open-air speciality restaurants and the coffee shop serves snacks throughout the day. There is also a choice of bars and you may use any of the facilities of the other two resorts on the same island.
Activities
A wide range of activities are available for the more active, a tennis court, table tennis, windsurfing, and even catamaran sailing lessons.
Kuramathi Cottage Spa
Pamper yourself in the wonderful and luxurious spa with a sauna, steambath, jacuzzi, cold plunge pool, beauty salon and some overwater treatment rooms where you can enjoy a wide range of massage and beauty treatments for complete indulgence.
In the centre of the island is a delightful swimming pool and pool bar.
There is a medical centre on the island, a decompression chamber, marine biology centre and, of course, an excellent PADI dive centre.
Accommodation at Kuramathi Cottage
83 rooms are of a very high standard all with airconditioning, four-poster bed, pipe music, telephone, minibar, bath or shower and balcony.
Beach bungalows have open-air shower, bath and garden view.
Water bungalows have facilities as above except for the open-air shower, and are spacious and built on stilts over the sea. They also have tea and coffee making facilities and a large balcony over the sea. Highly recommended.
Suites have separate sitting room, stunning open-air bathroom with shower, separate bath and pathway to a thatched roof palapa with double jacuzzi.
