Review Title : Komadoo island of dreams Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By Michael E Rudge on 06/08/2007
We first went to Komandoo in November 2006, and as we have been to the Maldives 5 times in total, we had made some friends on the airport island of Male.
And we discussed with Zahir what we liked about the islands we had been to, and we said, if we could put a little bit of each island together that would be the ideal island, Zahir said he new the island we would love, the island of Komandoo.
We knew as soon as we arrived that he was absolutely spot on.
Arriving at Komandoo is by small sea plane from Male, and takes about 45 mins, the scenery is breathtaking, do have your camera ready, then when you land there is a bit of a shock, as you land out at sea, on a small raft, there you transfer from the raft to a dohni boat, and then to the island takes about 5 mins.
You are greeted of the jetty to the sound of drums, and a welcome song from the management, cold drinks, and ice local made cream, and then escorted to your room; we had Malin 3, chosen by our friend Zahir, as the best room on the island, only ten feet from the door to the lagoon.
The restaurant, is small compared to other islands, but always very well attended by very efficient waiters; watch out for Riza, he is wonderful.
The Island of Komandoo is quite small as maldivian islands go, you can walk all the way around in only 20 mins, and you hardly ever see any one else, it is one of the most relaxing islands we have been to.
Entertainment is held in the very well stoked bar, and is basically Maldavian culture,
Water sport is held by Pro Divers, with a well stoked dive school, and there are also canoes, and sail boat for hire.
We advise all to go all inclusive, as water and drinks can be very expensive in the Maldives, so be warned, tipping is a norm also we set a rule, that we give our room boy $10 per week, and the same to the waiter, and bar staff, and $2. To the boat boy’s, but this is your choice.
To sum up, if you got to Komandoo, you will fall in love with the island, we are going back next year god willing
