White Sands is a classic, informal 'barefoot' resort where you really can forget about your everyday life. Sandy beaches surround (guess the colour?), and you either stay in the Island Village or the Water Village. Nestling in the tropical gardens, Kaana Kotari serves international and local food and is for guests staying in the Island Village. The à la carte Sunset Restaurant, overlooking the Indian Ocean, specialises in seafood and international cuisine.
Guests staying in Water Village dine at Vilu Mathi, overlooking the lagoon. There's a nice spa here, and couples should try the in-room, 3-hour massage. Those staying in the Water Villas can snorkel right off their terrace.
Location
On the southeast coast of South Ari atoll. Transfer time from airport: 2 hours 15 min by speedboat or 35 min by seaplane.

141 rooms. Island Village Beach Cottages have a thatched roof and open-air shower room, plus terrace, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, telephone, mini-bar, and hairdryer. Water Bungalows, in the Water Village, are designed in the style of a Maldivian houseboat and are on stilts, over the water. They also have satellite TV, safe and bath.
